Esk View is a detached house built out of pink Eskdale grantite as a family home in 1898 and extensively modernised in 1996 while retaining all the Victorian charm apparent in its mahogany staircase, marble fireplaces, falgstoned kitchen and exposed beams. It has been furnished to a high standard including an impressive mahogany dining table easily seating 16 people. Although there is full central heating the lounge and dining room also boast working marble fireplaces - all fuel for these being included in the price. Nothing like coming back from a long walk to an open fire and a sing-song around the well tuned piano! If you are not feeling that energetic there are two televsions to flop in front of, also two video and dvd players with a large selection of videos and dvd's. As mobile phone reception is not very good there is a payphone located in the hall which takes both incoming and outgoing calls. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you need to easily produce a feast for 16 hungry people - and two full size dishwashers to do the dirty dishes afterwards!

There are two bedroom floors with 8 well proportioned bedrooms, two of which are en-suite with king size beds. Six of these rooms will also accommodate travel cots. Besides the en-suites there are another three bathrooms and seven of the bedrooms also have their own washbasins. There are also two good sized landings and fantastic views of the valley from all the windows in the house.

Outside there is carparking for up to 10 cars behind the house. Along the front and one side of the house is an enclosed border garden and on the third side is an enclosed patio area with garden furniture and a BBQ. There is also another W.C. here.

A big hit with children is the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway. Situated a bare ten minute walk from the house it runs on a seven mile track down to the coast.

A big hit with the adults are the two pubs in the hamlet of Boot, just a five minute walk from the house. Both are open all day, serve excellent food and welcome children. Also in Boot you can visit a working corn mill, gift shop and Post Office.
